Adelaide Protests Indigenous Intervention...

About a hundred people braved the blustery weather in Adelaide last Saturday to attend a protest on the steps of Parliament against the Howard Government’s attack on the rights of remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory. The gathering was called at short notice by the Pablo Neruda Cultural Committee and the Adelaide Co-ordinating Committee of the FMLN in Adelaide. The representatives of the Chilean and El Salvadorian communities felt moved to call the protest because of experiences in their homelands of the oppression of Indigenous communities.
